MUFU-ARCHLAB is a design and research institution that spans the fields of architectural urbanism and theatrical performance. Based on an interdisciplinary background, the studio excels in areas such as performance venue and installation design, environmental theater production, and community application theater practice from a spatial perspective. Relying on rich industry and academic resources, the studio provides customized theater workshops for China and the UK, facilitating cultural exchange and further education abroad.
 
The works of the studio have been exhibited in several important theaters and museums both domestically and internationally, including the Phoenix Theatre in Venice, Italy, the Des Saubauhaus Museum in Germany, the Heller's Day Theatre in Dresden, Germany, the Cockpit Theatre in London, the China International Design Museum, the PSA Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai, the Guanshan Yue Art Museum in Shenzhen, and the Museum of Folk Arts at the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts.
 
 
 
 
Lead architect: Hu Zhenhang
Hu Zhenhang is the lead architect and researcher of theater and spatial performance at the Mufu Architecture Research Institute. Hu Zhenhang has a profound understanding of theater space and stage design in both the East and the West, and has rich experience in community theater work.
 
Hu Zhenhang has conducted joint research on theaters and urban and rural spaces with multiple international academic institutions, including the German Deshaus Foundation, the French Malagai School of Architecture, and the University College London in the United Kingdom. His works have been exhibited at several important events both domestically and internationally, including the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus in Germany, the Venice Theatre Festival in Italy, and the opening ceremony of the China International Design Museum. His work "Xiangpeng: Bauhaus Character Space Theater" was awarded the "Excellent Public Education Project of the National Art Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China".
 
Hu Zhenhang has successively obtained a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Zhejiang University, a Master's degree in Architecture History and Theory from Southeast University, and a Master's degree in Architecture from the School of Architecture of the British Architectural Alliance. He has also studied stage design at the Central Saint Martin School of Art in the United Kingdom. Hu Zhenhang currently teaches at the China Academy of Fine Arts and is conducting interdisciplinary research at the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London.
