Alpha Urban Theatre

Alpha City Theater is located in Mantou Mountain Community, Hangzhou, where the ruins of the Imperial City of the Southern Song Dynasty are located. Its residential area includes a number of urban villages with poor conditions. By borrowing a“ α” The community theater guides the audience to explore the rich historical layers of the venue through an immersive walking experience. Through this project, we attempt to explore a new urban micro renewal design model with theater as the core method. The project includes several objectives: (1) to establish a genuine connection between the theater and residents, and to enable spatial installations to intervene in the real social environment. (2) The dance space created in theatrical activities can provide a prototype for urban micro renewal at the architectural level. (3) The theme of the project is expected to inspire non-material strategies for community development.
