Compass Bamboo Pavilion

The prototype of Zhuting comes from our "Drama Construction" course at the China Academy of Fine Arts in 2015. In the course, we focused on the "International Bamboo Architecture Biennale" located in Longquan City, Zhejiang Province, and created three environmental drama works based on it. Among them, "Investigation of an Undoubted Project" is the most representative. We, together with students, created a bamboo stage installation for it: using a three-dimensional orthogonal bamboo component as the basic unit, by assembling and disassembling the component at different rhythms in the performance, we reveal the different positions of different groups of people towards the same event of the bamboo architecture biennial exhibition, and demonstrate the complexity and contradictions behind the biennial exhibition project.
